Middle and High School Youth Ministry
Wedgwood has a history of teachng and discipling youth as they grow in their relationship with the Lord. Our goal is to encourage students to own their walk with the Lord so they are able to multiply themselves as a disciple and a disciple-maker.
Breakaway: Wednesday Night Worship and Discipleship
Every Wednesday, September – May 6:00 – 8:00 PM
The Student Ministry is focused on making disciples together. Our desire is to help students become disciples who glorify God by obeying what Jesus commanded (John15:14), loving one another (John 13:35), and bearing much fruit (John 15:8).
These are the three marks of a disciple identified in scripture. To better accomplish our discipleship structure looks like this:
7th – 9th-grade discipleship – (in Wednesday night discipleship groups) help students to further understand who they are in Christ and who Christ is in them in the midst of many developmental changes going on in their lives.
10th – 12th-grade discipleship – (Lead discipleship groups) help students to further understand who they are in Christ and who Christ is in them by walking with them through leading 7th-9th graders in discipleship small groups.
Sunday Morning Bible Study – Students in Missional Communities
Sunday 10:30 – 12:00 pm
Our Sunday morning groups meet at 9:00 am and a Master Teacher presents a 45-minute lesson. The students then break up into small gender-based groups to discuss real life application with Small Group Leaders.
Looking for a place to volunteer? Consider working with our students on Sundays and/or Wednesdays. See what some of our volunteers have to say:
My Youth Volunteer Motivation I believe God has called me to lead Youth Bible Study because today's students grow up in a worldview that denies God or any need to relate to Him. This worldview offers little in the way of hope, stability, or standards. Many students grow up without a father in the home, and in some cases, no parent at all. Dedicated, doctrinally sound, and thought-provoking Bible study gives today's students a fighting chance to reach adulthood equipped to serve God with their lives.Engineer, Lockheed Martin
Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing the lights come on in my student's eyes as they really make their faith "their own". When a young woman shoves her iPhone in my face with scripture on the screen and asks, "Is this the answer to the question, Miss Shellie?", I find no greater joy. Volunteering as a teacher of High School Seniors means I'm part of a team equipping students as they head to college. What could be better than that?Internet Business Owner
I've been working as a small group leader of boys on Sunday mornings. My teaching partner, Jeff, and I started with the class of 2017 when they were just 7th graders. Mentoring and discipling them through the years has been a tremendous blessing. I have no words to adequately express the blessing it has been to see them grow and mature both physically, emotionally and in their faith. I'm so thankful I could be a part of that process.Software Engineer
