If you have been a Christian for any length of time, you know John 3:16. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:17 goes on to say, “for God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through Him, the world might be saved.”
Because we walk in relationship with Jesus, we hear often that God loves us. Jesus loves us. The Holy Spirit abides in us. Those are facts straight out of Scripture. Just like so many things in our lives that we hear often, see often, experience often tends to cause us to be dull of what is right in front of us, our senses to the awe of what God gave us through Jesus can also become dull.
Think with me for a second. God made a decision for us, that when our lives collided with this truth, changed the trajectory of our lives forever. It changed the course of history. It took us out of darkness and placed us in light. Wow! All because of one thing…God’s love for us.
That is incredible to me. I can love Him, because He first loved me. He gave the best, and still is. He never lets up on the abundance of His best. Amazing! He doesn’t get mad and walk away, or decide that I am no longer worthy to hang out with, or pull His presence because He doesn’t agree with me. He stays with us no matter what. “I will never leave or forsake you.”
This Sunday, Chris Quick and the band will be leading worship. It will be wonderful. I will see you on December 2.
