Agoraphobia is the fear of the marketplace. People who suffer from this malady seclude themselves inside their homes with curtains drawn, living in the shadows, afraid to go out where people are.
It is tragic.
But many churches suffer from spiritual agoraphobia. As our culture succumbs to the growing Darkness, we curse the Darkness but refuse to light a candle and venture forth. Churches meet weekly, carry out programs for their members, but never venture forth into the Darkness all around with the light of the Gospel!
Members of these churches mistakenly view themselves as the “customers” who need to be satisfied rather than the “sales force” who need to be reaching out to the lost and unchurched. Their pastors are forced to become Chaplains to the healthy rather than EMTs to the hurting.
This week we are reversing that trend. Our LIT’s will be going to the apartment complexes during the day and Wedgies will be taking Kids Power Camp to even more venues in the evening.
You can be sure the Enemy is not happy. Be ready for battle!
General S.L.A. Marshall in his book, “Men Against Fire” noted that in the Normandy Invasion only 20% of the troops ever shot their rifles on that first, bloody day!
For us to be effective this week we must use our weapons! Pray on your armor every day. Most of all—Pray!
Take courage! “We are more than conquerors through Christ.”
In His love,
