ABOUT US Missions
Missions is the heart of the Wedgwood community. We generously support missions through financial gifts and through active participation. Every year, hundreds of Wedgies are actively involved in missions in the local community, the country, and throughout the world.
Love Offering For Jesus
Missions are a strong part of Wedgwood. Wedgwood does missions a little different than most churches. We have a separate budget for missions which we call “Love Offering For Jesus,” or LOFJ for short. It allows individuals to give monthly to help them better budget what God has led them to give toward missions, and to help the church support missions throughout the year. Wedgwood supports Lottie Moon, Annie Armstrong, and state missions through LOFJ. We also support Wedgies whom God calls to serve as missionaries, both short term as well as career.
Over the past five years LOFJ has allowed Wedgwood to sponsor trips to six of the seven continents, and over 30 countries, several more than once. We have sent over 500 people, and given well over 1.2 million dollars.
Wedgwood has sent missionaries as far south as Australia and as far north as Alaska. We have sent missionaries to the Ukraine, Romania, and Russia in the former communist block, France, Spain, and Wales in Europe, Swaziland, Senegal, and Algeria in Africa, and Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela in South America. Wedgies have also shared Christ in China, India, Malaysia, and Madagascar, and many other places in the world.
We have an ongoing missions work in Peru called REAP. We started in 2004 and have sent three to four teams a year of around ten people. They travel up the Amazon and share Christ in the villages, many of whom are unreached people. We have seen over 400 come to know Christ through REAP. You can find out more about REAP at reapwbc.org.
The LOFJ offerings also support former Wedgies now serving overseas. Between Wedgwood members on short term trips, and former members serving as career missionaries, Wedgwood has shared Christ in 55 countries.
At Wedgwood we also believe missions starts at home. LOFJ supports many local ministries such as Union Gospel Mission, Beautiful Feet, Pregnancy Lifeline, and the Gideon’s.
Wedgwood believes missions are an important part of what God has called us to do.
