ABOUT US New Members Discovery Class
Membership is Meaningful
At Wedgwood, we want you to be informed, prepared, and equipped before you commit to becoming a partner in ministry with us. The Wedgwood Discovery Process is designed to enhance your future growth and ministry in the church. All prospective members must participate in the Discovery process as a requirement for membership.
The Discovery Process includes three important steps:
1. Attend Discovery Class
Discovery classes are scheduled once a month on Sunday afternoons from 4:15-7:30 pm. Childcare is available by reservation. Contact Ann Henson at 817-292-1400, ext. 1200. Discovery Class is a three-hour workshop that will help you become a more informed member, a more intentional disciple, and a more equipped "minister."
2. Complete PLACE Assessments
At the conclusion of the Discovery Class you will receive a PLACE booklet containing five assessments concerning your personality style, spiritual gifts, abilities, passions, and life experiences. We ask prospective members to complete these inventories within two to three weeks of finishing the Discovery Class.
3. Consult with Staff Minister
Also, after you have completed the Discovery Class you will sign up for a visit with a staff minister. This new member consult is a time for us to get to know you better, to answer any further questions you have about the church, discuss the PLACE assessments, and focus on future ministry opportunities.
Once you have completed this three-step process, you will be introduced as a new member to your church family.
