Community Outreach

Wedgwood reaches out to our community through a variety of ministries. We serve in the name of Christ and share the gospel as we "give a cup of water" to those in need. Whatever your passion, there is a community ministry in which you can get involved! Here are just a few to choose from:

The Lord's Storehouse

We believe the church has a special obligation to minister to people who are part of the body. However, that does not exclude those outside the body. Our benevolence program can be a magnet to attract people from outside the church. Meeting the needs of the community around us is a way of drawing people to God by the physical expression of Christian love. “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2

The Lord’s Storehouse is equipped with both a food pantry and clothing room for emergency assistance. We will continue to serve those in need with deeds of kindness and charity as God provides. We will work in cooperation with The Lord’s Money, a ministry offering help in biblical stewardship, debt management and basic budgeting techniques.

The Lord's Storehouse is located at 5522 Whitman Ave in the Counseling Center.

Current Schedule:
Wednesdays -1:00 to 4:00 pm

Pregnancy LifeLine

Pregnancy Lifeline's mission is to minister to the spiritual, physical, emotional and financial needs of women during and after an untimely pregnancy, to provide accurate information regarding abortion, adoption, single parenting and marriage; to promote sexual purity; and provide support for post-abortive women. For more information, contact the center at 817-292-6449 or visit their website.

Senior Adult Center

The Wedgwood Senior Adult Center is a twice-weekly (Monday and Friday from 9:00-1:00) ministry for older adults in our community and church. Activities include table games, track walking, senior aerobics, Bible study, day trips and special interest programs. The center serves lunch for a nominal donation. The center is a great place for senior adults to enjoy group activities and build relationships. For more information, contact Jeff Laster at the church, ext. 1202.

Adopt-a-Cop

Fort Worth’s neighborhood police protect our families and neighborhoods day and night, and now you can help put a hedge of protection around them. Through the Adopt-A-Cop program, you can “adopt” a police officer and pledge to pray for them each day and send a card of encouragement once per month. Find out more about this exciting community prayer partner program at the WBC Resource Center. Adopt your cop today!

Tyler's Treat

Wedgwood has partnered with Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth to provide a ministry of respite and hospitality to parents of children with long-term illnesses.

Beautiful Feet

Beautiful Feet is a mission that serves the physical and spiritual needs of the residents of low-income east side neighborhoods, including homeless individuals and families. The “Feet” is a functioning church with Sunday and weekday ministries. In addition to church services and Bible studies, Beautiful Feet offers a clothing and food ministry as well. Additional ministry includes mission trips and outreach projects to local shelters, prisons, and halfway houses. For more information, contact Mike Myers at 817-536-0505.

Shepherd Ministries Off Campus Ministry

Wedgwood provides Sunday morning ministry for a variety of nursing homes, retirement centers, and rehabilitation hospitals, including:

Wedgewood Nursing Home
HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center
Oak Park Retirement Center
Broadway Plaza
Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living Center
Trail Lake Nursing Center
Area Correctional Facilities

Volunteers who minister at these locations conduct worship services on Sunday mornings along with Bible studies in some locations. Ministers also provide pastoral care (visitation, prayer, etc.) on a regular basis during the week. The greatest blessings from this ministry come in two ways: (1) Receiving from these mostly elderly people and their families what a lifetime of blessings has given them, and (2) Giving to them, in the Master's name, the attention and love they so rightly deserve.
